In my one and a half years of working with PinkNews in the Audience team, I have:
With my project to pitch and rebrand one of PinkNews' Instagram accounts (PN Pride for All), I helped expand the global LGBTQ+ news coverage at the media organisation beyond a UK/US-centric lens. I not only compiled the global news trends for the editorial team daily but also delivered original global LGBTQ+ content in the form of social media posts, carousels, articles, and news videos.
My journalistic background ensured that I was able to jump onto any breaking news as soon as they are published on the website and swiftly post it on social media first before our competitors and even mainstream media. One of my notable achievements was covering the breaking news of Club Q Colorado Shooting for social media with 40+ content in the form of grid posts and stories as soon as there was an update about the case from the editorial team. We were leading in this coverage compared to any other LGBTQ+ publications as well as mainstream media.
Collaborating with the Design team, I used to communicate proficiently and provide comprehensive briefs for social media graphics, ensuring clear articulation of brand guidelines, objectives, creative direction and visual expectations. These were specifically for awareness days and other noteworthy events. Here are some of the graphics/animations produced as a result:
Social Media Strategist (2022-23), Social Media Officer (2021-22)
I was part of the Media team of the National Student Pride committee for 2 years. Within my 2 roles, I have
One of the campaigns I worked on for the 2022 festival was the LGBTQ+ societies takeover. This was initiated to outreach to more queer students and allies and help them see why the Student Pride events, LGBTQ+ career fair, and inclusive spaces provided at the festival would benefit them by broadcasting perspectives directly from fellow students like them. The campaign also aimed at collaborating with UK colleges and universities and encouraging more group festival ticket sales.
The campaign produced results such as a spike in page views, 50+ tickets on the first day of the campaign and substantial growth in both leads and followers until the day of the festival.
During the festival weekends, I always played a multifaceted role. Alongside supporting campaign initiatives and conducting interviews with award winners and festival participants, I spearheaded our LIVE event coverage on Instagram and Twitter, which resulted in remarkable levels of engagement. The real-time updates helped encapsulate the festival's spirit, making a significant contribution to the overall success of the event.
These are some of the graphics I designed in my role to support the graphic design officers during periods requiring increased brand output.
In my student leader roles in the University of Hertfordshire, Herts Student Union and societies, I have promoted events and information through social media as well as done LIVEs, interviews and social media takeovers.
In my university projects as well as beyond, I have used social media marketing to outreach to wider audience for the content and drive engagement.
